226: Book of the Month: Dog Massage

Today is the last day of the month and year! What better way than to squeeze in my first Book of the Month (BotM) feature!

I thought I'd see how it goes and start it off with a not wedding related book. I'm sure all of you dog owners out there would love this! It's a book I got for Christmas from my FMIL called "Dog Massage". Here's a picture of the cover from the previous link:

227: Uniquely Traditional: Uniting Our Families, Part 1

Remember when I was talking about how to personalize our ceremony yet be traditional? (In case you're too lazy to click the link & refresh your memory: I mentioned that I liked the flower ceremony variations and the Cord of Three Strands (which is in that link), and talked about the Cord of Three Strands over there.) Well, I'm finally posting the other unity candle alternative we decided to do!

There are two different variations of using flowers for a unity candle alternative (which I'm calling Unity Flowers):
  • "A simple unity ceremony where the bride and groom exchange roses. Other variations: the families exchange roses, the bride and groom exchange roses with their families, the bride and groom exchange roses, then present their mothers with the roses" (From About)
  • "Use flowers as an alternative to the unity candle. There are several variations for this union available. Place bouquets of flowers in separate vases to be carried down the aisle by the two mothers. During the ceremony, the bride and groom pluck one flower from each bouquet and then place them together in a smaller vase. Another version is for the bride and groom to exchange a single flower as their first married gift to each other. Flowers as a symbol of unity also are appropriate for outdoor or garden weddings" (From e-How)

229: Music Monday #10 (The Ceremony List)

I finally finished my list of songs for the ceremony!

I'm so happy to finally have it done. I can get it to our musicians, J's cousin (E) playing violin, and my friend (C) playing guitar. I'm just a little nervous that it's a lot for them to do. I do have some ideas if they don't want to do all 11 or 12 songs, though. C & I can either try to make a CD of the prelude songs playing guitar & flute, or we can see about having some flute friends play the prelude for us. Other than that, we can either have C & E pick songs they want to play or pick songs that they play and play the CD for the other songs. We'll see what they think after they get a chance to look through the music. I was even nice enough to put all of the music in a binder for them, with dividers (like the sections below) so it was easy to follow!

Want to see the line up (and the reasons I chose them)?* Thought so!

231b: Personalizing the Ceremony: Popular Readings

I've already talked about the other reading and "activity" we'll be doing at the wedding, but before that we'll have two other readings.

We spent a lot of time talking about what we wanted to do for readings (and by "we", I mean "what I wanted and he just said I don't care"). Josh's dad gave us a list of common verses used for readings, and we were looking through them for some ideas. One verse for the readings was a no-brainer. For the first reading, we'll be using the most popular wedding reading/bible verse ever, 1 Corinthians 13.

231a: Early New Year's Resolutions

I'm back after having multiple great celebrations this week! I hope everyone else has too! :)

Last night I came up with a few things I can do for this blog (again, I'm constantly doing this). This time I'll really keep up with this and do more for the wedding. It has been hard with the holidays and in between the two, finishing up with school. I promise I'll do more posting, and it'll be relevant to the wedding!

These New Year's Resolutions are to post more about the wedding, but also to talk about how it is unique to us. We've decided to do a lot of traditional things, but I've changed them slightly to be more modern or unique. There's a reason for that: I want to do the traditional things, but I'm sick of seeing the same things over and over. I want to do something different than everyone else and be the first to do it (which is how I like to do just about everything). A lot of what I'm going to be posting on I'm hoping doesn't get stolen by family or friends who get married before us. Luckily, we don't really have to worry about it, but anything can happen.

Another thing I've realized I want to do is to do a book of the month. I have a few books that I have but haven't started reading or have started but haven't finished. I'm hoping this will force me to read them. I'm thinking the first one I can finish up before December's done. It's not at all wedding related, but I got it for Christmas and would like to get that one posted so we don't have to wait a couple months for a wedding related one.

Hopefully I can keep up with these in the New Year!

Have you made any "New Year's Resolutions" around blogging?

232: Fitness Friday #10

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Personal photos from our NYC trip on December 12th

I thought I'd still post today really quick. I'm trying to get ready for the day before people get here (they should be here by now, so it's kinda weird).

This week I'm just going to do the weigh-in, and will figure out something to do next week. Probably something on new year's resolutions or something.

The weigh-in:
168.4 (same)

Which is great! I didn't lose, but I also didn't gain! And actually, my scale is a little weird, and once it weighs the first time, it kind of stays with that. I weighed myself twice: the first time it was 168.4, and the second time it paused at 168 but then went up to 168.4 as the final. It's really weird, so I'm never sure if the final one is the actual. I'll just use that one for this week. I'm pretty happy though either way. I haven't really done any work in a week, so it's nice that I'm maintaining at least. We'll see what happens next week!!

Have a wonderful day & have fun celebrating Christmas today!

233: Mery Christmas Eve & Merry Christmas!

I thought I'd post a quick Merry Christmas post before I "leave" for a few days. I'm not going anywhere, but I won't be on with the all of the Christmas celebrations. I'll be back after Christmas and I'll post my Fitness Friday then, unless I actually get the chance to just weigh-in tomorrow.

Here's a Christmas card for all of you that didn't get one sent to you. It's not exactly what we did, but it is the picture we used on our card.

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!

234b: The "First" Ornament

I thought I'd get both of these posts about ornaments out of the way on the same day. Next year, we'll have our first tree as a married couple up, and ready to start celebrating Christmas. I'm hoping that we'll have one ornament for "Our First Christmas" on our tree to celebrate our marriage! So I decided to look around and see what's out there as far as "Our First Christmas" ornaments go.

I searched around & found a few different ornaments that I really liked. I saw a lot of "Our First Christmas" ones, and I also found a few that would be cute for the wedding party. There are links at the bottom to sites with a whole page of them.

234a: Ornamental Inspiration

Over at WeddingBee, they are having their bloggers make a wedding inspiration board based off of one ornament, so I decided to try it out and see what I can come up with! You can go here to see all of the bee's inspiration.

Inspiration can come from anywhere, even an ornament (heck, mine came from the dog's towels!). There are some really good ideas that you can get from ornaments, which you can see from what the bee's have done. I looked all over for ornaments: Walmart, Target, Personalization Mall & Hallmark (yeah, it's not a ton of places, but I did a lot of looking!) Because of my collection of these ornaments when I was younger, I eventually decided to choose this ornament from Hallmark:

Pink & gold is a really popular color pallet for a wedding right now, so it would have been soooo easy to cheat. There are tons of inspiration boards out there on Google, but I was good. I went on over to SMP to create my inspiration board, but had a ton of trouble using it. I ended up just putting all of the pictures in MS Paint and came up with this:

Have you gotten any inspiration in different places?

235: Christmas Survey

I saw this on a few different blogger's pages so I thought I'd join in on the fun!! For some reason, all the pictures happen to be from 2007, with the exception of Daisy. They're all my photos BTW.

236: Music Monday #9 (Christmas Edition)

Sooo, I was hoping to have all my music ready to list out for the ceremony to share with all of you, but I didn't get to it, even though I know I said I would. I got a little busy with studying for my last final and babysitting, so I haven't gotten to it yet, but I need to get it done by Sunday so the music can be brought down to Cincinnati, where our violinist lives. It'll be convenient though, on our 10th Music Monday I'll share all the music with you!!

Since Christmas is this week, I'll be doing lots of Christmas themed posts, starting with this one! You can look forward to a Christmas survey, a wedding theme created around an ornament & a little Christmas card!

Before I start, I did get my rejection letter from WeddingBee today. It's sad, but I'm not as sad as I thought I'd be. I can apply again in 4 weeks, so I'll be fixing up some posts and really be working at blogging better!

239: Fitness Friday #9

Happy Friday!

School's finally out for me until January 25th, so it's a very happy Friday for me! Hope you're all ready for wedding planning to TAKE OVER!!!!! I know I am! Hopefully I can wrap some stuff up before Christmas, but after I'll be a wedding planning machine!

On to Fitness Friday!

241: Review: Digital Room

Yesterday I finally got the poster I won from Katie over at Random Reflections of a Perfectionist a few weeks ago!

I won an 18x24 poster from UPrinting Sponsorships, and after getting our Christmas card pictures done, we decided to use one of those pictures:

Huge thanks to my cousin/BM AG for taking the pictures for us!

243: Music Monday #8 (Prelude)

This week for our Music Monday I'll be looking for some ideas for our prelude, since our violinist, Josh's cousin, asked me to send her music soon. Hopefully I'll be able to list everything next week.

I decided to ask the hive for help on prelude music. So far, this is the hardest to find! On here, I started looking at the song Bella's Lullaby, which I found out is from Twilight. I've never really been interested in Twilight at all, but as I was looking for this song I found another one that I liked a little bit better.

244: My Dream Wedding

After my recent trip to NYC (and the one we took before we were engaged), I've always thought about how cool it would be to get married in NYC (although I'm unsure how Josh would really think). I was looking up tickets for Top of the Rock before I left and ran into "Engagement on Ice" and thought it would be so cool to do it just for the fun of it, but it looks like it costs about $200 to get engaged, when we're already engaged. I also saw that you could do weddings there too. I left it alone, thinking it would be so cool to have NYC as part of our wedding somehow, since I've completely fallen in love with the city!

Today, my mom & I were looking for ornament sites online, (since we didn't buy any but wanted one) and went to the Empire State Building site to see if she could find one she saw there. On the side bar, was a link to "Get Married at ESB on Valentine's Day"  She pointed it out, I couldn't believe my eyes and I knew I had to go try to win. This is the perfect way for us to get married in NYC on OUR DAY!

246: Fitness Friday #8

Ahhh! So I meant to finish this an post this on Friday, but with going to NYC I totally forgot to finish it & post it! So I'm finishing & posting it now (with Friday's date so I don't need to change the days left)! Please forgive me!! I didn't change anything, and just added the parts I forgot. I did do my measurements (NOT weight) after the trip to NYC, so hopefully it's not affected too much from what it was on Friday.

It's FRIDAY!!

And it's even better for me, because it's my last Friday of classes until January! I still have a couple of exams next week, but I'm done with classes! It's exciting!!

So this week after my weigh-in & measurements, I'll be talking a little bit about walking & why it's good! I was going to compare pilates and yoga, but I'm going with the family to NYC tonight (only for a day, but still!) and we'll be doing tons of walking!!

247b: Gifts in the Mail Completed...

..for now! :)

I finally got the pictures for Christmas cards in the mail today!!!! I talked about it here a few days ago.

I won't post the picture juuuust yet, but that's the package it came in! :) I'm working on the picture to post here for a Christmas post, and I need to send them out first! I know some people that read this are getting a card, and I can't ruin the surprise!

I ordered the pictures from Walmart after my cousin took them for us! I can't wait to show you guys the picture soon! We got cards at Walmart last year that we just put a 4x6 picture in!

It does mean I can get them ready to send out! I'm so excited! Get ready bee's! Hopefully I have enough to send to a bunch of you! J has a big family and our church family list is pretty long, so there wasn't many cards left over!

What did you do for Christmas cards?

247a: Let's Say Thanks!

We should always be thinking about our troops, but especially during the holidays is a great time to be thinking of them. I'm sure it's so hard for them all year long to be away from their friends, family, and their country.

There's a way for you to send a card easily to those overseas fighting for us. It's sponsored by Xerox, and all you have to do is go to this site and follow the instructions! A soldier will receive a thanks in no time! While you can't decide who gets your card, which are all made by kids, any soldier that gets a card will greatly appreciate it.

All you do is decide the card you want to send and click send card. You'll then go to a site where you put your name, hometown & state. You then select a message from a list or you can write your own. Then click Submit, and you're finished! Easy peasy!

Here's the card I sent:

And the message I selected:

"We don’t know each other and will probably never meet, but I want you to know that you and all of our troops are in our hearts and prayers each day. Please always remember what you're doing will always be appreciated and never forgotten. I wish you all the best and pray for your safe and speedy return home to your family and friends. Thank you."

It literally takes one minute to do, so go over and send a card to a soldier!

Have you found any sites that do something nice for our troops, or anyone else?

248: Giveaways, Giveaways, and More Giveaways!

I hit the jackpot today!!! There are tons of giveaways to let you all know about! (Well, 2 things, but it's technically 6 different ones) I'm hoping I can win another one! (I'll post the giveaway that I won a couple weeks ago-it shipped today, so I'll show you it when it gets here!)

249: A True Libra Bride

So this isn't going to be a long post. I just decided on something regarding this blog & thought I'd let you know! There have been many things I've been undecided on (a true Libra) and would love to point all of those out to you!

Topics where I've been undecided and changed my mind a million times will have a title and a subtitle. I've searched undecided/indecisive in the Thesaurus and have been looking for something clever to do. I also looked at some other recommendations including changeable Some of my favorite synonyms: hemming and hawing, of two minds, equivocal, whimsical, kaleidoscopic, on the fence, and moot (which I thought meant pointless). I really like including moot, mostly because of FRIENDS:

But I do like the idea of it being called "A Bride of Two Minds". I'm not sure where I'd go with moot.

Which do you like better? Any good ideas for moot?

250: Music Monday #7 (Interlude)

We've finally have only 250 left! It's really exciting! The last 50 days flew by, I can't believe it! We'll be at the big day before we know it!!

So this week's Music Monday I'm going to be talking about a possibility for interlude-ish music. I want music to be played when we are doing the Unity Flowers and Cord of Three Strands, so I've been looking up some pieces for that.

I really do need to get going on picking out music for the ceremony. That's why I haven't really gone into the reception music yet. I need to decide what I want so I can mail out information to our ceremony musicians (fam-dors: family/vendors), so they can get practicing!

252: Gifts in the Mail

I'm just writing really quick to let you guys know that I've been waiting on 2 things in the mail:

  1. STD's (ordered on Tuesday 12/8, arrival date: on/before 12/23)
  2. Christmas Pictures (ordered on Wednesday 12/9, arrival date: 12/9-12/14)
I was tracking my pictures online, and at 9:30 AM, they were in Pennsylvania, so I was hoping they could make it here.

At 1PM, when the mail was brought it, my mom called me down & said I had a package!! I was so excited! I thought they were my pictures, but when I saw the package, it didn't say Walmart on them. I was a little confused because it felt like it could be them.

I opened them up, and to my surprise, they were my save the dates!! I won't be posting on them until after they've been mailed and guests get them, sometime in January. They've been through quite a transformation! Here's a teaser though:

I ordered them from VistaPrint, and they turned out really amazing! I can't wait to address them and send them out! (And then post about them after!)

Did you have a good experience with VistaPrint/other site like this? Did their shipping time impress you?

253: Fitness Friday #7

Happy Friday!!!

I'm pretty excited that this is the second to last Fitness Friday I'll be writing at school! Next week is the last week of classes, and then a week of exams, and I'll be free til the end of January!

On to Fitness Friday!:

254: Personalizing the Ceremony: Literally Tying the Knot, Part 1

That's got to be the longest title ever, and well, I guess it'll technically be braiding, not tying! :)

Thank you for those who are voting! I felt like I needed to post soon, and this is the topic vote I received first.

I've never really wanted to do the unity candle, at all. I do like the symbolism of becoming one family, but never really wanted to do it because everyone else does the unity candle...everyone! I don't think I HAVEN'T been to a wedding where it WASN'T done.

256: Asking for Your Opinions!

I'm having some trouble figuring out which I should post on next, so I'm asking you guys to help me out!!

Hopefully you're all back from Thanksgiving break & back to reading regularly, so hopefully you see this!!

So the options I can think of are cake ideas, the cord of three stands, hair ideas, invitations, the pens in vases, the proposal story, or the unity flowers. If you think I should talk about something else (if I've mentioned something before you want to hear about or have another idea) just comment on the post.

Thank you so much!

Edit: Retrying the poll. Hopefully this works. If not, just leave a comment.

What Should I Post on Next?

257: Music Monday #6 (Interlude)

So I'm back after a long weekend! I've had a great break for the most part. I celebrated Thanksgiving three times, celebrated Josh's nephew's first birthday (below is a picture of him), decorated for Christmas, and went to the Miami Dolphins game (losing was pretty much the only downside. It was my first game I ever went to, so it was exciting even though we lost.

Nom Nom Nom!

*Both are personal photos*

Unfortunately I'm back at school trying to get some work done. Luckily though, I only have 2 weeks, then exams, and then I'm done until the end of January! I can't wait!

On a side note, I just applied to be a bee for WeddingBee! I'm pretty nervous, but glad I finally just submitted the application and don't need to worry about doing it. Wish me luck!!

Now, on to Music Monday!

260: Fitness Friday #6

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday!!!

I know I did, and I'm having another Thanksgiving today! :) Which means, this week's post won't be too long either. I'm trying to get ready so we can get going to get our Christmas tree and then get out to my grandparent's house!

This week was pretty good (and by pretty, I mean awesome)!

261: Giving Thanks

So I'm testing out this iPod app I got, so there won't be pictures. I don't have it set up to have them yet. I'll edit when I add them.

This weekend is pretty busy for me so I probably won't be posting until after the holiday weekend. Tomorrow when I do Fitness Friday, I'll most likely just post my weigh-in and talk about turkey or something.

On to this post! I'll be sharing with you guys the five things I'm most thankful for!

263: Followers are Important!

At least to bloggers!!

We all love having followers-then we know someone has a chance of looking at what we're doing here!

One of the blogs I'm following just reached a huge milestone! 100 followers!! That's amazing! I can only hope to get close to that someday!! In honor of reaching this milestone, she's having a giveaway! I'm so hoping to win this one, because it's a CHOCOLATE COOKBOOK!! YUM! I'd so love that since I love chocolate oh so much!

So go on over to Chocolate Lover's Giveaway and try & win!

264: Music Monday #5 (Processional or Recessional)

This week's Music Monday will be looking at a recessional idea. I think...I'm unsure what I would do with it if it was used! :)

So I heard this song on the radio last week & couldn't help but think that this song could make either a good first dance song or a good recessional. I'd love to do this as a recessional-it could even be a good processional!

The lyrics are in the video, but just in case you want to read at your own pace or without the music!

History in the Making-Darius Rucker

Don’t move Baby Don’t move
Awww look at you
I just want to take this in
The moonlight dancing off your skin
Our time Lets take our time
I just want to look in your eyes
and catch my breath
Cuz I just got a feeling

This could be one of those memories
We want to hold on to, cling to,
one we can’t forget
Baby, this could be our last first kiss
The door to forever
What if this was that moment
That chance worth taking
History in the making

Inside, baby inside
Can you feel the butterflies?
Floating all around
Cuz I can sure feel them now
Tonight, maybe tonight
Is a start of a beautiful ride
that will never end
And baby I’ve got a feeling

This could be one of those memories
We want to hold on to, cling to,
One we can’t forget
Baby, this could be our last first kiss
The door to forever
What if this was that moment
That chance worth taking
History in the making

Right here, right now
Holding you in my arms

This could be one of those memories
We want to hold on to, we want to cling to,
One that we can’t forget
Baby, this could be our last first kiss
The door to forever
What if this was that moment
That chance worth taking
History in the making

Where would you use this song?

266: A Bride of Two Minds: Meant to Be :)

Nope, not an engagement story yet! :)

This is going to be a story about colors and the envelopes I got that sealed the deal! (haha) I never used an inspiration board to figure out my colors, but would love to put one together now that I finally figured them out!

268: Cost of Proposing

So, I just realized that when I posted about my Bridesmaid Cards, I never wrote about how much it costs!

I'm so excited because those cards are my first real project for the wedding!!

I got all of my supplies from Paper and More. It's a great site, easy to search and buy. They have great prices and ship really quickly.

When I bought supplies, I bought a bunch of things that I could use again, and I'm not really sure how they go into figuring the cost per card, so I'll just mention them but not include them. I also bought some things for other projects (I couldn't decide on the envelopes, so I bought 2 colors & I'll use one for thank you cards for them), or some things that I wanted to use, but ended up changing my mind and using something else.

General Supplies:
Martha Stewart Flourish Stamps: about $6 from ebay
Martha Stewart Alphabet and Frame Stamps: $10 from Walmart
Gazebo Stamp: about $5 from ebay
Daisy Stickers: $4 from Walmart
Daisy Stamp: $2 from Ben Franklin (local craft store)
Stamp Base: $7 from Ben Franklin (local craft store)
Ribbon: bought various widths and colors for about $2 each
Stamp Ink: bought various colors from Ben Franklin (local craft store)

Used for Card (all from Paper & More):
Silver Metallic Pocketfold Invitation Card: $3.50 (7 samples at $0.50 per sample)
Vellum Envelopes: $3.50 (7 samples at $0.50 per sample)
Pocket Inserts: $3.99 (pack of 50 sheets)

Bought for Card, Will Be Used for Other Projects (all from Paper & More):
White Cardstock: $2 (4 sheets at $0.50 per sheet)
Yellow Vellum Envelopes: $3.50 (7 samples at $0.50 per sample)

So the grand total per card's paper supplies is: $1.83!

That's not including the general supplies because I didn't use them much and I'll be using them again.

I would love to make something for the guys-not as nice as the girl's one in the link at the top, but just something so they can see what's expected of them & just some general things.

Have you been able to get craft supplies for projects? Any ideas for the groomsmen "card"?

270: A Lady's Guide to Party Planning

So, I've been wanting to throw a bridal party Christmas party for them all to meet each other, and it would be a nice way for us all to just hang out some.

I'm planning on having the party on December 27th. I'm hoping that it works out that most everyone is able to come to the party. There are 3 OOT guests, so I'm not exactly expecting them to come, but 1 of them should be able to be up here between Christmas & NYE. I'm just hoping that he's able to come to the party! This date will allow the most amount of guest to come though, so hopefully it works!

271: Music Monday #4 (Processional)

So I made some changes to my dress decision (that's what I get for being an indecisive girl), so go check out my edits on my post from yesterday!

Today for Music Monday, I'll be doing an option for my processional with my dad.

I really want music that's us, and really like not having to do a traditional song for the processional, when I'm not really crazy about all of the choices.

272: A Bride of Two Minds: Dress Decisions

So after a a ton of going back & forth on dresses for the girls, I finally made a decision, with the help of Maid of Honor A.

It was a hard decision, and I feel bad, but after I got to go to Bath & Body Works to buy some stuff for the girls & for Christmas presents!

273b: And The Award Goes To...

..Me! And then I'll be giving it out!

I'm so excited to have won my first blogging award!! It's really cool to have won a blogging award when I've only been regularly blogging about a month or two, and just getting use to the whole blogging and reading other's blogs deal!! I feel welcomed into the blogging world! (It was also a nice surprise to get on an already exciting day!)

So what did I get?

273a: Our Marathon Reaches Its Halfway Point!

Today is the day I've been looking forward to all week!!!

Not because we have some fun trip, a vendor to meet or anything to do at all. Actually, Josh is working & I went to the mall with mom (which turned out great-you'll see).

It's because of all of the messages I've received in my e-mail today:

Those are e-mails from TheKnot, The Wedding Channel & Project Wedding all saying I have 9 months to go

What's so special about 9 months to go?

274: Fitness Friday #4

I've made it a whole month doing Fitness Friday!! Wow! It's really flown by!

I really feel better this week after last weeks disappointing weight gain. I lost some weight and I feel like I look smaller!! We'll see what the numbers say!

This week, after I do my report, I'll talk about a workout guide that I've seen a lot of-Buff Brides. It's not something I'll change over to, but I have seen it mentioned quite a bit, so I thought I'd see what the fuss is about!

275: On a Cold Day...

..Coffee is nice!!

I did stop and get a cappucino from Jitterbugs on my way to the computer lab today, but I'd love to win the prize of a contest by Mrs. Stiletto! (not the WB one)

276: Wedding Wednesday #3

Ahh!! We've made it to part three of these posts!!! Here's the final part of my trends list! (You can see Part 1 and Part 2) I promise that I'll actually be showing projects & inspiration now. I'm kind of thinking Wedding Wednesday isn't really worth doing, just because the biggest part of the wedding blog is doing wedding related things. So I may just nix the whole Wedding Wednesday thing & post wedding stuff whenever. I'll keep doing Music Monday & Fitness Friday for now.

Ok-on to the list!

277: We Finally Meet the Final BM!!

So we finally got the last Bridesmaid up here! The last one J had to meet. Unfortunately only one of the other girls got to meet her. Maybe today we can see the Maid Of Honor, but who knows.

She moved to Virginia about 8 years ago, and only came up once a couple years ago for a funeral, Josh didn't go to it, so he hasn't met her yet. She got here at about 3am yesterday morning and will be leaving early tomorrow morning, and last night Josh got to meet her for dinner!

278: Music Monday #3 (Recessional)

So this week I'll look at a possible recessional for us.

I'm really unsure of what I want to do for our recessional-I don't want traditional-but i want to find something upbeat that sounds traditional.

279: More Give-Aways!

I know I've mentioned this before...I love contests/give-aways!

So it's no surprise that I'm writing about another contest that I entered!!!

282a: Worried about swine flu?

So I saw this video on one of my favorite radio station's blogs.

I though I'd share with you guys this video, so you guys can keep yourselves clean & safe from the swine flu!

283: Wedding Wednesday #2

So here's my continued list from Part 1. There will be one more week of trends, then I'll get into some fun stuff & projects!!

285: Music Monday #2 (Parent's Processional)

Happy Monday!! It sure does feel like a Monday today-at least to me.

Today I'll be showing you another music selection for the ceremony as part of my Music Mondays! I was trying to figure out which way I wanted to go for this one-it'll be simple either way, since part of the music I've decided on already. (I do need to definitely figure things out so I can get the music to the musicians) I decided to show a possiblity for the song the parents/grandparents will be walking in to.

287: Happy Halloween!

In honor of Halloween (and putting of writing my paper a little bit longer), I decided to look up for some inspiration for a Halloween wedding! I didn't talk about having guests dress up in costumes, but I have heard of that idea!

290: Wedding Wednesday #1

We're at 290 days!! Time is just flying by!! Something to be excited about when the weather is pouring rain.

This is going to be a 3 part post-10 trends will be going up over the next 3 weeks!

Today I'll be looking at some of the new trends that brides are incorporating into their weddings. There are lots of new trends, and as a "traditional" couple (mostly J, but we're not way modern or way old school), it's hard to get him to take some of this stuff seriously. I would love to jump on board and use some of these trends if they were all in my style!

292b: Music Monday #1 (WP Processional)

So, here's the first of many Music Mondays! I didn't have enough time to go around looking for some cool music today. I have so much homework. :( So, instead of looking around for some cool things right now, I'll do my obvious choice for a processional. This processional won't be for me, but for the girls and guys to walk down the aisle to. I'm still deciding on a processional for grandparents & parents, but I know what the WP will be walking to!

292a: I love contests!

I'll be posting my first Music Monday post later today, but I came across a contest today that I just HAD to post about!! Contests are so fun to enter & try to win, I've entered in 2 this week.

293: I do some proposing

I'm taking a short break from homework to put up another post. I'm currently unsure of what I want to post about this time. I think I'll post my Bridesmaid's Cards! I decided to try to do a Wedding Wednesday, along with my Music Monday & Fitness Friday, so this should belong there, but I wanted to post on that now. That's where I'll post projects & inspiration. Any other day that I post (that's not MWF) will be something general, or if I come up with something important that can't wait.

So, after I got engaged, Josh & I took some time to figure out who we wanted to be in our Wedding Party. After we decided, we asked our honor attendants to go to dinner/lunch with each separately, and asked them there, and the others were asked in person or over the phone/via Facebook, depending on how we were able to do it. All 12 said yes, and our 3 child attendants "agreed" to be in the wedding too. (The flower girl was the only one I was able to talk to and ask and get a real answer.) I thought it would be nice to ask them a little more formally, especially after seeing some ideas online.
Now, one of the girls hasn't gotten the card yet, but I'll post it up anyways. Bridesmaid S: don't look at this post until after I see you!!

295: Fitness Friday #1

TGIF!

Here's the first of (hopefully) many Fitness Friday! In each Fitness Friday I'll do a weigh in & measurements, and then give another idea or exercise at fitness! I'll try and throw in some food ideas (recipes) in some too. So weigh-in #1:

296: Follow the Leader

I just wanted to write in quick & let you know that I have had a great day on WeddingBee!

I am now a Busy Bee, meaning I have over 500 posts!! I was quite excited to find that I have that many posts in about 3 months! It's amazing! I ♥ my WB!

298b: Gifting the Girls: Part 1

So, before I start writing at all, I'm putting out a warning: my girls CAN NOT look at this post! So don't open it until after August 14th 2010 or I'll be really really mad.

I decided to write a little bit about part of the gift I'm getting my girls. (I'll put off the vases & cards for another couple posts. I still need to finish the vases a little bit first) This is only part of their gift, and I'll be posting on the entire gift as we get closer & I'll be giving it to them.

298a:Shredding Can Be Fun!

No, not that kind of shredding!!

300: I Thought I Could Get Stuff Done?

This weekend was a long weekend for me, it's my mid-semester break. So naturally, I thought I could get a ton of work done over a 4 day weekend. I think I thought wrong. I haven't really done anything. I take that back. I have done stuff, just not everything I was planning on.

301: Wedding Abbreviations

So, since I have about 10-15 minutes to post before I go to Move Studios in Brighton, I thought I'd put up a quick post on something I've wanted to do: wedding abbreviations! It takes some getting used to all of these abbreviations, and even 8 months later, I sometimes have to stop & think or check to see what some are. So here are some abbreviations, you can come back & check them out anytime you need to! I'm putting on as many as I can find, but will italicize the ones that will most likely be used the most by me. Some are used more in blogs/message boards (I may not use FI too much here, but I use it a lot in message boards). Hope this helps when you're browsing around!

302b: The Color Swatch Book Arrives!

So, the other exciting thing that I got was my color swatch book! I don't think I posted about this earlier (I didn't see it right now) but I went to a color reader just before my birthday, and found out what I "should" wear & decorate my house like (we'll use them as guide lines). It was awesome finding colors that looked really good on me! I found out that I am a true summer, but she didn't have any true summer color swatch books left (I personally thought she should keep one of each style on hand, just in case, but, whatever), so she had to order it & mail it to me. It took almost 2 weeks, but it finally came yesterday!!

302a: Easels Found!

I posted before about looking for easels for table numbers (you can go here to see that post), well, I found some! Josh & I went to the Dollar Store yesterday when he came up to get some things for his dad, I got picked up & went to a second lunch (I know, tisk, tisk), and we went on over to the Dollar Store, I was intending to look at some glass items they had to see if they had anything I wanted for a candy buffet (they didn't, at least in the store). While we were moseying around, I came across some picture holders that could work for holding table names! I decided to buy a pack & see what happened when I put my mats on them:

The Miami Dolphins blanket that I took the picture on is amazing! Don't Judge!

Here's the horizontal

Here's the vertical

Aren't they cute? (There are 2 in a package) It pretty much matches what I've wanted! They are a little small, but it does the trick. I think we'll have to put some kind of backing on them so they don't sit weird on the holder, but I think it looks cute! Those aren't the exact color mats we're using, I'm going to spray paint them all silver.

So, after seeing this, I ended up going back to the Dollar Store today & bough 14 more packs! Who can go wrong for spending $15 on all of these!? I'm quite happy with my find! :)

Did you find anything for your decor unexpectedly?

305: Adding Cool Features

So, in trying to make this blog a little more interesting, I'd like to try to add some cool features to my blog. I've seen different wedding blogs have one day a week where they do a project (or some kind of DIY feature), or post a song that they might play during the reception or ceremony. I really love this idea! The only problem is figuring out which of these I want to do (yes, I know I can do more than one), and if I'll have enough time to find things that I can post once a week (or somethings on this list could even be once a month).

306: Moving to Blogspot!

Hey everyone!

Just letting you know that I've moved from tumblr to blogspot! I'll copy over a few of my important posts over here (and I'll make them post the same day they were posted over on tumblr, which means anything from tumblr is before this post, so it goes in chronological order, otherwise it would annoy me).

308: 'Maids Night In

So I have had such a busy week & haven't had any time to write on here at all! :( I've tried to cut back on doing wedding stuff the last couple weeks because I've had soooo much homework to do.

Friday, I got home from school, had to finish the girl's project (which I'll post soon! I can almost do it! One girl still needs to get it!), and rush out to Bridesmaid AM's house to get ready for Maid's Night In!! All but one was able to come (we missed Bridesmaid S a ton) and we got to enjoy a massage from a girl from Therapeutic Massage & Bodyworks on Buffalo Rd. She brought her chair & we each got massages & they were AMAZING!!!!! We had Chinese for dinner (yummy LoMein, Sweet & Sour Chicken & Sesame Chicken), had foot baths, did paraffin on our hands and painted our nails. We even got to paint pumpkins! Here are some of my art skills:

We enjoyed having Hunter (who may find a home!), who made friends with MOH AB, BMs AG & P. Here's Hunter with MOH AB:

So after leaving with BM P at 11ish PM, we got lost took a little detour while taking her home. It really wasn't fun driving home. It was dark & rainy & hard to see the lines. But, I made it home safely around 12:30/1 AM and went right to bed.

Hopefully I'll be a little less busy & will be able to post some more inspiration & DIY stuff soon! I'm really anxious to do it! Next weekend is a 4 day weekend for me, so I'll have time to organize & clean up a bit around my room, do some homework/papers & get posting some more inspiration!

Did the first meetings of your bridal party go well?

316: Holding Our Table Names

So, since my class got canceled (after we went in and had attendance taken-ugh), I was trying to figure out what to look up for wedding ideas! I came across a classified add on Weddingbee for easels for place settings-which is what I've really wanted to do since I've figured out how we're doing our table numbers, which I'll write about another time. There are a few different styles out there for easels:

I like the first three best. I really like the one from Save-on-Crafts. That one looks quite fancy- but I think it's about $5 each? And for about 23-25 tables, that's a TON of money. I won't be buying those. I do like that style though. I was reading some boards & people saw some easels at Michaels and Walmart-I think they might be this last style, but I'll be going to Michaels tomorrow, so I can always check it out.

I'm not sure what color I'd like them. I think I'd like black best. The frames for the table numbers will be either silver or white-I think silver. Silver easels might be a little much.

What are some really small details that you just have to have?

317: Catching the Tears

I have some time between classes today to share some inspiration with you!

Today's inspiration:
(All images were found in Google search)

Tears of Joy Tissue Packets!

I ordered some stuff to see how I want to do them. I got samples of vellum paper, and 2 sized vellum envelopes.

These are soo cute! I'll hopefully try & work on them this weekend. This month is going to be busy, so we'll see. I just love these though!

UPDATE 11/20: I never got around to making these using different paper, but I did buy Martha Stewart Eyelet Confetti Pouches from Walmart for under $5-a pack of 20. I'm thinking that might be a good number? Maybe I can try making some out of what I have. I'll be fixing  up the confetti pouches some. I'll show you when I do!

Did you have tissue packets?

321: Piercings & Posies

So Saturday I went with the first bridesmaid to try on dresses!! Bridesmaid P, our moms & I went to Alfred Angelo & P tried on some dresses-like 12 of them. She liked a few of them. I think I wrote about 6-7 down that she liked. We then went to Piercing Pagoda & she got her second holes pierced! She was quite nervous after she got there.

After that we went to The Distillery for dinner :) yummm. I love their chicken fingers!! We went home after that & today we got to go to the bridal show at the Radisson hotel.

It was way different than I expected. I know there wasn't a ton of room where they had everyone, but they had mostly DJ's & photographers (both of which we already have). There was only 2 florists (one I got a bouquet that they had as a sampler! Pictures are below), 2 bakeries (I picked that out too), a couple registries, stationary places, tuxedo places (which makes you put $10 when I don't even know what Josh wants to do about that yet), some photobooths (which would be AWESOME but they are sooo expensive we won't be doing them) and a few other vendors-nothing extremely interesting. We'll be going to a couple more shows-in October & January there are expos, and a spring bridal show in March. Maybe I'll win a prize at one of those!

(As soon as I saw one person with a bouquet, I ran back to their area so I could make sure I got this bouquet! It's close to what I want!)
Here are some other bouquets I saw that I liked:

I didn't win any door prizes, but I did get a 2nd free class at Move Studios! I'm excited! Their website doesn't have much information on it yet though-I would like to see some prices so I could possible go there regularly. I'll have to call & find out when I can go in! They have belly dancing, pilates, yoga & some other cool dance things-and they do bridal party choreographed dances! Which would be so fun to do!

I have a ton of information to go through-which will sit in a pile along with everything else I have to go through-ugh-I really hate this whole school thing! It's taking away from time to do wedding planning-I have a ton to organize and go through. My binder's just overflowing!

Well-I think it's about time I go back to my homework. I'm about done with my project for the girls-but I'll post that stuff up after the get together on October 9th! We'll be doing our nails! :)

I'll also write about the proposal-I know I haven't done that yet. I'll do that soon-in the next couple days & give you something a little more interesting to read :)

Did you have any luck winning prizes at bridal shows?

325: So We Know Where You Got the Ideas...

...but where do you get the supplies?

Well, I'll tell you!! Now, this post really won't have any pictures. I know. I really hate when there aren't any either, but I'm just showing you where I buy stuff from. I promise-I'll show more pictures soon!

328: How the Dog Got Her Nickname

When we left off, we had just brought Daisy home from Lollypop Farm. The next part will be a little about adapting to a new dog.

WARNING: There are a couple graphic pictures of bodily functions.

329: Our Decision for a Baby...

...a furbaby!!

We're getting closer to the 300 mark! Yay!!

I finally have some time to tell y'all about the baby (well-I'm kind of procrastinating studying for my 3 tests this week :P).

336: The Beginning of the Rest of Our Lives

It started wayyy back in October 2003. We were both sophomores in high school at the time, and there was a movie night one Friday night at my church, which also included Josh's church, who had a band playing before the movie. There were less than 15 people there between our two youth groups, and everyone from his was in the band! I was with standing with JJ when we were singing & I noticed that the drummer was pretty cute! All through the movie I couldn't get him out of my head through the whole movie (I was staring part of the time...not gonna lie).

When I went back to school on Monday, I noticed that cute drummer in one of my classes! I actually sat like two seats behind him too! Even better, I saw he was in band with me too! By about December all my friends (& the band teacher) knew I had a little crush on the drummer (in case you didn't realize...it's Josh :P). When my church was going to have a "lock-in" in January at the bowling alley, I jumped at the chance at inviting his youth group to go to that event as well. That event came & unfortunately, his church was at once end of the alley, while mine was at the other. A friend of ours who we invited & Josh knew, kept trying to get Josh to hang out down by our end, but it didn't exactly happen, although we did get to play euchere together (I'm not the best player-I just play for fun...but he plays to win haha- I actually think he was surprised I knew how to play.)
